meet the teachers

Lynn Egan

Lynn has an Associate in Early Childhood Education-Jefferson Community (1989), a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders—Spalding University (1991), and a Master of Science in Communication Disorders with Rank 1 Teacher Certification—University of Louisville (1993). She practiced in public school, home health, hospital, and private practice. She has been married for over 25 years and a homeschooling mom to two children since 2000.

Sarah Segree

Sarah has an elementary education degree from Indiana University. She has taught children ranging from three to eleven years of age, including her eldest son, whom she homeschooled for nine years, and her two youngest sons. Sarah has been married over 25 years and has four sons. In addition to working as Educare director, she is the Children’s Minister at Eastpoint Community Church.

DIEGO BUCIO

Diego is excited to be part of the Educare community for another year. Originally from Mexico City, he moved to Louisville 10 years ago when his son, Bruno, was born in this beautiful city. With over 15 years of experience teaching Spanish, Diego is passionate about sharing his culture and language with students. In addition to teaching, he works as a Tour Manager, collaborating with bands and ensembles from around the world, especially now that live performances have resumed. Diego believes that learning Spanish not only enriches personal growth but also opens doors for future professional opportunities.

Julie Heard

Julie has an Elementary Education degree from Georgetown College. She received her Master’s degree from the University of Louisville. She retired from JCPS in December 2019 after 29 years of teaching. She lives in J-town with her two adult daughters, Hannah and Kelsey, and their precious cats, Gabi and Toddy.

Marilyn James

Marilyn has a BS in Elementary Education and a MAT in Early Childhood Education with an Administration Endorsement from University of Louisville. She has been a certified teacher since 1988 and taught at Christian Academy of Louisville, ending her career there as Elementary Principal. Marilyn has been married to Joe for over 40 years and is mom to three grown children, mother-in-law to three others and "Nana" to 10 grandchildren.

Heather Provost

Heather is in her fifth year of homeschooling. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications & Public Relations from Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Heather lives in Crestwood with her family and their two dogs. Some of her hobbies include Bible study, photography, and leading the youth group at her church. She loves to travel with her family and has visited over ten countries.

Caleb Segree

Caleb is currently a senior, majoring in Chemistry, at IUS.  He is excited to help his students develop a love of science this school year.  He will teach what he has learned from current college professors, and will share what colleges are looking for in your lab notes and in your knowledge of science. Caleb grew up in Louisville and has three brothers.

JACOB STEWART

Jacob is excited to be teaching the Apologetics elective. He has been married to his wife, Christin, for 9 years, and they have a seven-year-old daughter, Mia. They are also expecting a baby boy in mid-February. Jacob has been in full-time ministry for 9 years, leading kids and youth ministries in both Evansville, Indiana, and Louisville, Kentucky, where they have lived for the past 3 years. He looks forward to continuing to lead and mentor the next generation in this new role.

Sunny Pulliam

Sunny has a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Western Kentucky University. She has substitute teaching experience in both JCPS and Floyd County Public Schools. She has been married 20 years and homeschooled her own three children for five years.

Carrie Vittitoe

Carrie holds a bachelor’s degree in English/Economics (1995) and an MAT from Bellarmine University (2000/2018). She has taught in JCPS as a regular classroom Language Arts teacher and as a certified substitute. In addition to Educare, she works as a freelance writer for local magazines and as a curriculum consultant for an educational nonprofit. She has been married 25 years and is mom to three children.
